Synopsis

In order to join a guild of adventurers, a group of cadets must recover artefacts from a series of dangerous shrines.

For as long as he can remember, Zephyr Goldfinger dreamed of being a great adventurer. He gets his chance once he is scouted by the Shrinehelm Explorers, the greatest guild of adventurers in his kingdom.

Before Zeph can join them as a permanent member, he has to train with them as a cadet. He must embark on Shrine Searches, quests that lead him into ancient structures, where he’ll recover the treasures that they contain.

Although this is Zeph’s first big step towards his dream, achieving his goal is harder than he thinks.

Joined by the barbarian warrior Myra, the dwarven sharpshooter Dorian, and the elven healer Galen, Zeph must journey into territories that are more dangerous than he expected, and recover artefacts that are deadlier than he imagined.

Character List

Galen

Picture
Gender: Male
Age: 16-18
Accent: Standard American
Galen, an elven magician from the Southern Islands, is skilled with healing magic.

Unlike his fellow Nightshade elves, who typically practice destructive magic, Galen has developed the power to heal. He leaves his clan to join the Shrinehelm cadets, where he believes his powers would be appreciated.

Timid and risk-adverse, Galen hates how his party blindly charges into dangerous situations. Given that he is soft-spoken and gentle, he rarely expresses his disapproval to his rowdy teammates. Nonetheless, he is loyal enough to rush to their rescue.
Lines:

  • (Neutral) Firing your weapon would attract a horde of Guardians. We have to find another way through.

  • (Happy) That was incredible! (Beat) Don't do it again.

  • (Sad/Worried) Is...is he all right?

  • (Afraid) Listen to reason, Zeph. If you fall from that height, I won’t be able to heal you!

Myra

Picture
Gender: Female
Age: 25-30
Accent: Standard American
Myra Kyii, a barbarian warrior from the Eastern Empire, is an expert combatant.

Armed with a battleaxe that can transform into any close-range weapon, Myra is a formidable force on the battlefield. Ferocious and stalwart, she decides to train with the Shrinehelmers as a cadet, even if her clan believes that her menial rank insults her abilities.

Although Myra is a skilled fighter, her social skills aren’t very strong. She tends to intimidate those she interacts with and finds it difficult to bond with her team.
Lines:

  • (Neutral) You’re not leading us through this cavern, Dorian. I don’t trust you further than I can throw you.

  • (Happy) This is promising! If we knew how to read these symbols, they might tell us how to access the crypt.

  • (Sad) I…I couldn’t reach him in time.

  • (Angry) How is this my fault? Your trigger-happy impulses summoned those monsters!

Dorian

Picture
Gender: Male
Age: 40-50
Accent: Standard American
Dorian Shellfire, a dwarven sharpshooter from the Western Domain, can hit any target with deadly accuracy.

Dorian, an experienced circus performer, dazzled crowds by firing a musket that shot magical bullets. His illustrious career came to a halt after his troupe dismissed him for threatening a patron. Having nowhere else to go, Dorian agreed to train with the Shrinehelmers.

Witty, fearless and brash, Dorian charges into any battle with guns blazing. However, given that his temper often gets the best of him, his teammates often find themselves in his crossfire.
Lines:

  • (Neutral) Leave it to me. I can blast through that barrier with a single shot.

  • (Happy) (Laughs mockingly) Jeez, kid. Muscle up! If you want to be an adventurer, you’ve gotta grow a backbone.

  • (Disgusted) I’m not touching that thing.

  • (Angry) Don’t do it, kid! You’ll be killed!

Selena

Picture
Gender: Female
Age: 15-16
Accent: Standard American
Selena, an aspiring strategist, is a cadet who is in her final year of training.

Intelligent and resourceful, Selena can retrieve arcane information from the Shrinehelmers' archives, which proves to be useful during her friends' adventures. Instead of joining them on the field, she prefers to remain in the Shrinehelmers' Headquarters, and uses a Communication Pendant to speak with her team.

Although Selena is a capable cadet, she tends to doubt her abilities. Fearing backlash from her superiors, or envy from her fellow cadets, she shies away from opportunities to show her true potential.
Lines:

  • (Neutral) Don’t worry. As long as you hold on to your pendant,  I’ll be able to communicate with you.

  • (Happy) Thank the Spirits you’re all right! I was so worried when our transmission was lost.

  • (Worried) Something’s coming towards you…and it’s moving pretty fast.

  • (Afraid) Zeph? Can you hear me? Zeph!
