Introduction

Young Artists' Initiative - Crestborn

Story Sight Studios, a member of our outreach program to Studios and Content Creators, will work with the students of our Young Artists' Initiative (YAI) to develop a fantasy-adventure visual novel.

Synopsis

A group of teenage champions, who are chosen to protect their kingdoms, join a guild of heroes who will teach them to develop their abilities.

Welcome to the Cardinal Kingdoms, a world that’s filled with mighty heroes. The greatest of these champions possess a birthmark that's shaped like their country's emblem. Known as the Crestborn, these young heroes are destined to protect our lands.

In order to develop their abilities, these teenage champions are enlisted into the Crestborn Elite, a guild that trains them to hone their skills. They will embark on Quests in more than twenty locations, interact with a range of more than thirty characters, and will have an option to join the following classes:

Regents, the royal heirs to the kingdoms' thrones.
Mages, who will join the royal families as their appointed sorcerers.​​
​Knights, who are trained to lead the kingdoms' armies.

Create Characters

Players have the option to customise their avatar's personality and powers. Alternatively, they have the option to play the game with a pre-existing character, whose personality and powers are already defined.

​Multiple Story Routes

Players will be assigned to an Order - a team of Questers from various classes. Their interactions with their Order's members will allow them to unlock multiple characters and storylines.
​

​Combat Options

Players will also be sent on Quests, which are located in a range of more than twenty different kingdoms. ​They may use their sprites to interact with their comrades, defeat enemies, and explore the locations they've unlocked.​

Interactive Locations

Players may explore kingdoms that are filled with 3D locations. Each location has point-and-click navigation options, which allow them to interact with their surroundings, obtain bonus items, explore hidden levels and unlock secret areas.

Audition Deadline

The cutoff date for our January 2021 Auditions is Tuesday, 12th January 2021​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ at 10:00pm EST (Eastern Standard Time). ​

​No more auditions will be accepted after that date.

Submit Your Audition

You may choose to audition on our website, or submit your files directly to us at admin@mediacontex.com.

  • Save your lines as * CharacterName_FirstName-LastName_linenumber.mp3 * (e.g. CharacterName_BarryAllen_01.mp3).

  • Compress all your clips into a single .zip/.rar folder labelled * Crestborn - FirstName-LastName * and upload it into the form.

  • Complete each field in the application form below and click 'Submit'.

  • Save your lines as * CharacterName_FirstLast_linenumber.mp3 * (e.g. CharacterName_BarryAllen_01.mp3).

  • Place your lines for each character in a .zip/.rar folder labeled * CharacterName_FirstName-LastName *.

  • Label your Email Subject as * Crestborn - FirstName-LastName *.

  • Send your clips, name, rates, and email you wish us to contact you with, to admin@mediacontex.com.

    Production Questions

    How much will I be paid?

    If you are cast for any of these roles, you'll be contacted by our casting representative, and you'll be able to negotiate your rates with them.

    Please let us know how much you would charge per line/per word in your submission.

    If I am selected for these roles, what will my clips be used for?

    If you are cast, your clips will be used for previews for our character arcs.

    Your audition clips will not be used without your permission.

    When will the cast list be published?

    The cast list will be disclosed according to our students', partners' and actors' preferences.

    Although we can't give you a definite deadline right now, we will aim to post regular updates of our progress on social media.

    Submission Questions

    Do I have to use your submission form, or can I email you directly?

    We would prefer you to use our submission form, as this would allow us to collect your audition clips more efficiently.

    However, if you experience any difficulty with using our form, feel free to send your clips directly to admin@mediacontex.com.

    May I still audition if I don’t have a character’s preferred accent?

    Of course! We keep all of our auditions on record. Even if you aren’t cast for this project, we’ll contact you about future opportunities.

    Alternatively, you may contact Tiffany at hello@story-sight.com to tell us what your preferred accent is. We’ll let you know if any VA opportunities come up.

    What do you mean by “Standard American”?

    If a character has a "Standard American" accent, we'd like you to use a typical General American accent for all of your lines.

    I can't submit my auditions in time. May I have an extension?

    Sorry, friend. Auditions will be closed after the deadline we've listed. However, we'll regularly update the following pages with new audition opportunities:

    • How many takes per line?

    You're welcome to submit 1-3 takes per line. Compile all of your takes for each line into a single file.

    Label each line according to their line number. If there are four lines for your character, you should have four files in total.

    Can I audition for more than one character?

    Sure. If you're submitting your audition over our website, feel free to select more than one character in our submissions form.

    If you're submitting your audition to our email, please separate each character’s lines into separate ZIP folders, and label each file as:

    “CharacterName 1_YourName_Audition”

    “CharacterName 2_YourName_Audition”

    You may include all of your files in the same email/submission.

    Can I send a cover letter or demo reel with my audition?

    We're always looking for new talent. Feel free to share your demo reel, profile, website, etc. in your audition email.

    When will I hear back from you?

    If you're shortlisted for our roles, you'll hear back from us approximately 2-5 days after the audition deadline has passed.

    Please don't hate us if we don't send you a reply. Due to the number of auditions we receive, we may not be able to respond to each email. However, we appreciate your submission, and we hope that you'll continue to support our projects!

    May I have feedback on my clips?

    Unfortunately, MediaContex's team has a lot on their plate, and we may not be able to deliver feedback to individual VAs. However, we're very grateful to you for reaching out, and we hope that you'll continue to support our projects!

    Do you have more than one skillset?

    We're always looking for talented Creatives to contribute to our work. Feel free to submit an application as a writer, artist, video editor, etc.
